Nick's Hidden Cottages

I’ve stayed at Nick's Hidden Cottags three years in a row. The gardens and pool are lovely, and the staff are warm and helpful. The place is clean, organized, and well run. There are hot showers and a bathtub, and while there’s no hairdryer in the room, the staff can bring one if you ask. For getting to central Ubud, someone may show you a shortcut that passes the front desk of another Nick's hotel. You can only use it if you tell them you’re a guest at Nick's Hidden Cottages. Little tip from my stays: stuffing tissues into the window gaps keeps mosquitoes and geckos out really well ☺️

The terrace has an amazing view, and the place feels tucked right against the lush jungle. It’s quiet, yet only about a five-minute walk from Ubud’s main street. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They even make night or mosquito rounds, bringing anti-mosquito incense and closing the bed nets. I’d definitely stay here again.

We had a peaceful, relaxing stay, and the pool area was clean enough to enjoy. It’s around ten minutes from the center, with plenty of markets and restaurants nearby. The pool towels could have been available more often, though. We were there four days and only got them one day. The bedrooms could use a revamp, but as they are, they’re pleasant enough to stay in.

The room was spacious and clean, and the hotel is beautiful, facing jungle-like greenery. The staff were the nicest I’ve seen, very professional and welcoming, and the price was a great deal. A couple of small drawbacks: there’s a narrow 200m sidewalk from Simah, which is awkward if you’re carrying things, and there’s no real scooter parking right by the hotel, only on Simah street. I noticed a bit of mold smell in the room. I was expecting that, so it wasn’t a big issue for me, especially since the room was clean and fairly well maintained.
