The Udaya Resorts and Spa

What made Udaya Resort & Spa feel special was how welcoming everyone was. Staff greeted us and said “welcome home,” and the general manager Budi told us to think of Udaya as family. I really did feel that way. The hotel is a short distance from central Ubud, with a complimentary shuttle there and back. Our pool suite was kept clean, and the design is beautiful throughout, from the flowers to the koi ponds. The place really stands out visually. We also had great dinners at Deeva, with fresh, spectacular food. Breakfast there had lots of choices and delicious Balinese sweets. If you have an early outing or checkout, they can pack breakfast to go with 24 hours’ notice. I loved staying here and hope to return. Thanks to all the staff, and especially Budi, Lista, Eka, Sukma, Sutri, Dek na, Putra, Cynta, Kris, and Agus. Sorry we couldn’t remember everyone’s name.

The peaceful, harmonious feel of Udaya, along with its lovely design and lush plants, is what keeps drawing me back. This was my fifth or sixth stay, and after ten years of work travel and hundreds of hotels around the world, it remains one of the finest I’ve experienced. Mr. Budi, the GM, personally welcomes guests and takes a genuine interest in how everyone is doing. He’s ready to help with requests or concerns, and that care seems to set the tone for the whole team. The staff are kind, attentive, and remember guests by name. Rooms are spotless and serviced twice daily, and breakfast is excellent. It’s a healing, uplifting place, and a real Ubud gem.

We only had two nights at The Udaya, but left wishing we could have stayed longer. We were in the Royal Duplex Pool Villa, which was private, spacious, and beautifully designed. Having our own pool was a real treat, and the two-level layout made it feel even more special. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom gorgeous, and everything was clean and well cared for. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and breakfast had plenty of tasty choices. Eating in such a peaceful setting made it even better. The villa felt romantic and restful, surrounded by nature but still close enough to get around Ubud easily. We arrived to a genuine welcome, and the stay exceeded our expectations. We’d happily recommend it for a relaxing, intimate getaway and can’t wait to return.

We stayed in a Jungle Pool villa, with a private pool tucked into nature and a lovely outdoor bathtub. The hotel also has standard rooms and private villas with their own pools. We ordered flower decorations and had a floating breakfast, both memorable touches. The food was very good, with an à la carte all-you-can-eat setup that we’d recommend. The property felt quiet and romantic, just right for relaxing. One thing to keep in mind: there are lots of stairs and walking between rooms and facilities, so it may not suit guests with reduced mobility. We had a wonderful stay and strongly recommend it.
