Putra Bisma

The room needed a bit of maintenance, but the Wi-Fi worked well all over the property, and the staff were consistently lovely. Breakfast was fresh, filling, and delicious each morning. The two infinity pools and tropical gardens were beautiful places to unwind. In the quieter Bisma part of Ubud, you're still an easy walk from cafes, restaurants, and bars. Charming resort and very good value for Ubud.

The hotel looks like its pictures, with beautiful views and a little distance from the main drag, though everything is still a short walk away. I really enjoyed the stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food was nice. My room could use some maintenance, but the air conditioning worked well and that didn't affect my experience overall.

The jungle view from our pool-view villa was breathtaking, and the location was hard to beat. We could walk into the busy areas without staying amid the chaos, with restaurants, cafes, small marts, and activities nearby. Kadek was an excellent driver, arranged to pick us up at the airport at our request, and we used him for other outings too. Highly recommend him. The service at the property was very welcoming. Our room had a quaint balcony and a large bathroom, and there were two lovely pools. It got fairly dark for sleeping, though not completely black. The on-site restaurant made decent coffee; we didn't try the food, but other guests seemed happy eating there. Laundry was quick and cheap. There wasn't much indoor seating besides the bed, the TV wouldn't turn on, possibly our mistake, and the aircon worked but wasn't very powerful. A couple of cracks in doors and walls let in water and a few bugs. There are some stairs to reach the villas by the large pool. They looked after us well, and the stay was very affordable. I'd recommend it.

We paid $36/night for a standard room, not a villa, and stayed 10 days. For another $5-$10/night you could probably get a more updated room. The high edged tub and shower is treacherous, the floor is slippery, and there's some wear and tear and design flaws to accept. Still, I think Pertiwi Bisma 1 is the BEST VALUE around for its cleanliness, friendly staff, lovely pools, tucked-away quiet, and location. It manages a nice balance: close enough to walk to all the main street action in Ubud, while still feeling like a quiet oasis.
