Birds and geckos were all around us in the rice fields, with very few mosquitoes, and the week felt like a real Bali experience. The setting was perfect for being close to nature. We took easy day trips to local highlights, especially Taman Sari Waterfall, then came back to what felt like our own pool. We also enjoyed several authentic, home-cooked Indonesian breakfasts and dinners. The staff greeted us with smiles and warmth, and several spoke more than adequate English.

Ten days went by so easily at Swallow Guest House. We loved taking short and longer walks through the villages and rice fields, surrounded by beautiful nature and kind, inclusive local people. It felt like the real Bali, and Susan was a wonderful host. It was perfect for our little family with our one-year-old, and we’d love to return.

Set among the rice paddies in a nearby village, Swallow guesthouse is a peaceful, relaxing base for exploring around Ubud. The hosts are keen for guests to experience the “real Bali,” and they’re incredibly helpful, with lots of suggestions for activities. I’d highly recommend staying here.

We’d love to come back to this magical place. The village locals and every staff member were lovely, and guest services were extremely supportive with all our needs and ideas for things to do. The location is incredible, and staying here gave us a wonderful taste of Bali’s beautiful culture.

Surrounded by rice fields, Swallow house felt far away from Bali’s busy areas. We were there with three adults and two young kids, and all of us had a fantastic time. We only stayed three nights, and by the end we wished we’d booked much longer. Thanks to everyone at the Swallow House for the wonderful hospitality.
