Swan Inn Hotel

I’ve stayed here for a month in spring and another month in winter, and have always been very satisfied. I usually pick an upstairs room with a balcony in the new building. The room has what I need, especially the wide desk, which is a rarity in Ubud if you work on a laptop. The balcony is large enough for yoga. Staff are pleasant and will clean the room when asked. There’s laundry service in the courtyard, plus a lovely pool with loungers positioned in the sun. The garden is beautiful, full of well-kept plants. There’s a spacious open-air dining area and a small kitchenette for quick meals. It’s a five-minute walk to the center and stays quiet. Just know that the narrow access street takes a few minutes on foot, so you can only reach the accommodation by walking or scooter, not by car.

The location is great and the staff are lovely, but the rooms bring the place down. The bathrooms feel dated and could use some attention. The pool is a godsend in the wet-season humidity. For the price, I’d say it’s okay.

It’s a basic hotel with good value and a handy location. Bring your own toiletries, and be ready for stairs if you’re on the third floor. The soundproofing isn’t great. The hotel is down a long alley off the main street, with some stretches that aren’t properly lit.

Whenever I’m in Ubud, Swan Inn Hotel is my go-to. It’s very affordable, around 300k to 500k per night, and still great value. You can walk to the town center, then come back to a quiet, peaceful spot to unwind after a busy day. The family who runs it are the sweetest, and their care for the business really comes through. It’s a charming place that feels like home. Staff are always friendly and ready to help. The rooms are clean and comfortable, too. I look forward to returning, and highly recommend it to anyone after a welcoming, quiet, affordable stay.
