Tanggal Merah Guest House

I spent two weeks here and really liked it. The family is so nice, and they have a cheap, delicious warung outside. There are plenty of warungs in the area, and Ubud center is within walking distance. For the price, the room was perfect, and breakfast was included.

Nyoman was easily the best host I’ve ever met. He was so nice and helpful, kept the room clean and tidy, and made amazing breakfasts. I stayed for 12 days, and everything was perfect: the room was in very good condition, the AC worked perfectly, the bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was super amazing. The location is right in central Ubud, and it’s great value for money. I strongly recommend staying here, short or long term.

Nyoman welcomed us warmly and paid close attention to what we needed as guests. The simple breakfast he prepared was generous and nicely presented. During an evening chat, I learned he’d worked at a Bali hotel before, so he knows a thing or two about hospitality. The room was quaint, simple, and clean, and I slept well after our daily tours. This was our first time in Bali, and we picked this homestay because it’s close to Ubud center. We were lucky to find it. Nyoman can also be helpful if you want to get around Bali, and I highly recommend this guest house for a stay in the Ubud area.

The guest house is only a few dozen meters from some of Ubud’s liveliest, most fun streets, but nights were still serene. I slept like a baby and woke refreshed for hikes and tours. The rooms have a welcoming, natural look. I’ve attached a video of the room I stayed in. Nyoman also pointed me toward the restaurants down the street, where I found some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Warung Krisna was so good I went every single day. Nyoman is the guest house host, and he’s incredibly sweet, generous, and welcoming. His daily breakfasts, especially the fresh fruit juice, put a spring in my step and kept me smiling all day. He also connected me with Yanden, a delightful driver who showed me around and taught me so much about the island. We’re friends on Instagram now. I even got to see a riveting fire dance and musical storytelling performance that Nyoman and other community members put on at a local community center. I write Google Reviews fairly often, but only for places I feel attached to. I’m not overstating it, months later I still daydream about the guidance, hospitality, and all-around kindness at the Tanggal Merah Guest House.
