This was my third stay at Three Dewis, and I’ll keep coming back. The family running the homestay are attentive and kind, and the place feels homey and budget-friendly. It’s peaceful while still being close to the busy shopping streets and restaurants, and the breakfast is delicious. The bedding looks a little worn and could use an update, but when I asked, they changed the sheets straight away. The bed is very comfortable, and the view from the rooms is unbelievably beautiful.

I planned on two nights but stayed longer. The room was so clean, and the rice field view was amazing. The surroundings are calm but still close to the main street. Staff were friendly and flexible when I added nights, and the breakfast was really good for the price included. Loved the scrambled egg. I’d recommend it if you want a bit of a break from the busy area.

The place is affordable, convenient, and peaceful, and would suit a solo traveler or couple. My girlfriend and I had booked a twin room for nine nights, but only learned when we arrived that it wasn’t available. The manager showed us water damage in the deluxe twin room’s bathroom ceiling, so they put us in a standard room with a queen bed instead. The rice field view was nice, but we needed twin beds. The next day we asked for the twin room we’d booked, or a refund if that couldn’t be arranged. Getting a cancellation and refund was complicated, since they said we had to contact Booking.com first. They eventually set up another twin room and helped us move our things, but the shower drain was blocked and the bathroom floor flooded easily. I hope they repair that drain in the second-floor deluxe room and the ceiling in the ground-floor deluxe bathroom. Aside from these problems, everything met our needs and expectations. They served breakfast daily, checked whether we wanted the room cleaned, and helped carry our luggage.

I left after two nights feeling completely exhausted from poor sleep. The rice fields and lack of traffic noise were lovely, and the price first made the place seem like a good fit for a solo traveler. But sounds traveled through the property so easily that the room felt almost unsoundproofed. After midnight I could hear men talking downstairs, and outside noise woke me around 7:30 am. The owner’s family live there, and children play and cry in the courtyard. I know that may be hard to avoid, but I’ve stayed in other Balinese family homes without this level of disturbance. It often felt like a shared dorm, with noise coming from every direction. Privacy was limited too. People on other levels could see into my room, so I had to keep the curtains shut. I saw rats twice, once on the stairs when one ran past and badly startled me. The room needed basic upkeep: mold spots, dust on the desk, and an extremely dirty bedroom chair cushion. These seemed like cleaning and maintenance issues, not anything requiring major renovation. Although it’s called a guest house, staff handled all communication and the owner didn’t speak directly with guests. I didn’t feel the warmth I usually associate with Balinese homes. When I finally met the female owner at checkout and said I hadn’t slept well, she just replied, “OK,” without asking more or showing concern. That left me feeling guest feedback might not be a priority. I’m not sure who this place suits. The standard room doesn’t seem like a good choice when cleaner, quieter places are available at similar prices. Higher-category rooms also didn’t seem especially competitive for their price, with plenty of better choices around. If restful sleep, privacy, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere matter to you, I’d look elsewhere.

I spent ten days at Three Dewi's and found it just right for my time in Ubud. It has a relaxing, distinctive setting, yet the busy city center is only a few minutes away on foot. Thanks to Wayan for a wonderful stay. I’d definitely come back.
