Lu was genuinely kind and helpful, which is why I’m giving the villa stars at all. But the place feels neglected and decorated with no care. It’s the worst villa I’ve stayed in in Bali. Even the dish sponge left for us at the start said plenty. While we were there, Lu had her community’s temple rebuilt right next door, with construction noise from morning until night. Nobody even apologized. “I love your money” would be a more fitting name for this villa.

The pool was great, and the villa itself was cosy, comfortable, clean, and reasonably priced. There’s hot water in the shower, a light by the sink for makeup, and they supply towels, hangers, soap, and shampoo, but no conditioner. The kitchen has a gas stove, fridge, toaster, pans, and a water dispenser. For four people in two double rooms, though, we only had two bowls and some plates. There were wine glasses and tea cups, but no mugs or electric kettle, so we had to boil water on the stove. Mugs and a kettle would be useful additions. The owner has six friendly dogs, and they may wander into the villa sometimes, which could be an issue if you’re uncomfortable around dogs.
