Ubud Dream Guest House

I booked this place through an online reservation site after an unexpected work trip. My budget was limited, and I needed to be around Monkey Forest, so I was glad I chose it. It’s a walk from the main Monkey Forest street, but the quiet, relaxing setting made that worthwhile. The owner welcomed me warmly and showed me to my room. He trusted me to settle the bill on my last day, which I appreciated. I was usually out in the evenings and early mornings, but I still enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the smell of the dupa. There are 20 rooms, according to the lady of the house, and mine was upstairs on the second floor. Breakfast was simple but good, with a different dish each of the four days I stayed. They also rent scooters, so I didn’t need to look elsewhere. I’d recommend it if you’re after a peaceful place on a limited budget.

The beds were comfortable, and the showers had strong pressure and plenty of hot water. The hosts were wonderful and went out of their way to accommodate us. It’s a great location for exploring Ubud.

The hosts were lovely and kept in touch well, but a few basics caused problems. The Wi-Fi often didn’t work, and the room’s AC wasn’t cool enough even on its lowest setting. We also had one day without water, though that happened just once. The hosts couldn’t fix these things instantly. Without those issues, I’d have rated the place 4.5 stars.

The room was clean and had lovely natural light, though there weren’t many amenities. It’s only two steps from Monkey Forest Street, and everyone was so kind and ready to help. Breakfast was great, served in the room, and changed every day. I’d strongly recommend it.
