Ubud Jungle Stay - Mahari by WAHM Hotel

Finding this jungle hotel felt like discovering a little adventure. The drive in was part of it: a narrow track between rice fields and small farmers' houses, with insects chirping and water softly moving through the canals. With every step, the road and tourist streets fell farther behind, until it felt like entering another, slower and more natural world. Dense greenery hides the hotel from outside. It looks like a traditional house, with a thatched roof, natural wood, and plantations and jungle stretching to the horizon. Inside, it’s surprisingly cozy, with warm, soft lighting, natural materials, thoughtful details, and a large bed facing the palm trees. At night, it was lovely to turn off my phone, open the doors for the cool air, and listen to the tropical forest come alive in the darkness. Mornings had their own rhythm. Birds woke me instead of an alarm, and from the terrace I watched the jungle turn golden. I could linger over freshly brewed coffee, read, meditate, or simply look into the distance without rushing or worrying. The team deserves special thanks. They greeted me with sincere smiles and so much care that any awkwardness disappeared, and I felt like a guest visiting good friends. They made this more than a beautiful snapshot from a trip. It became a warm memory I’d want to return to.

So calm and relaxing, away from the chaos of Ubud. The luxury cottages are comfortable and cozy, with jungle all around to explore. I loved the stunning balcony and delicious breakfast, and the staff were very kind. There’s also an adorable cat 🥰. Absolutely recommended, this is the best place to stay in Ubud.

The room had an unpleasant chemical smell, the tea bags were awful and tasted like water, and the soundproofing was poor. There was also no signage from the road, so finding the bungalow was difficult. The terrace net looked nice but couldn’t be used to lie on, and bungalow number 4 had neither that net nor a sofa on the terrace. I’d booked one room for myself and another for a friend. The manager met us and took us to bungalow number 4, apparently intending to put both of us there. I reminded him that I’d booked 2 bungalows, so he took me to number 2, which matched the photo. When I insisted on getting the second bungalow, he said none were available, although bungalow number 3 was still vacant. They later put a noisy neighbor there. If the manager hadn’t lied to me, I would have given this 4.5.

Getting here takes a motorbike, so make sure you're okay with that. The ride is worth it, though: the view is stunning, and the quiet, peaceful atmosphere makes this hidden gem a lovely escape. I'd happily recommend it if you're after somewhere tranquil. 🌿👍
