Villa Viandra

The staff are what made our stay so good. Ketut, Kadek and Jero were wonderful. Ketut lives on site and helped us with absolutely everything. She was lovely with our daughter, kept her entertained and fed the fish. We stayed 7 nights and would happily return. It’s a solid 4.5/5, though the villas could use some cosmetic attention, maybe a fresh coat of paint and general touch-ups. I’m being picky, but if I owned the place, I’d rotate the villas and leave each one empty for 7 days to get it looking immaculate. There are 3 villas, Puspa, Padma and Ayana. They’re all the same size and have the same basic layout. For rice field views, you need to book either Padma or Puspa, which I don’t think is made very clear on booking sites. I’d recommend having a scooter, as with most places in Ubud. At first it seems like there’s not much nearby, but once you know the area, there are lots of great restaurants close by. Padi and Jungle fish is next door, and Tamian cafe has probably been our best find in bali for food and value. Bubbles laundry charges £1 per kilo, which is amazing. The villas are great, but do expect night-time noise from crickets, bats, frogs, lizards and other animals, since you’re among jungle and rice fields. Most locals also keep chickens, and they crow almost nonstop from 3am until nearly midnight. If you’re a light sleeper, I wouldn’t book Ayana villa, as you won’t get any sleep.
