Canvas Escape was in a quiet spot, still not far from the main part of ubud, and the pool was clean and well looked after. My room was spacious and nicely decorated, and the staff were kind and helpful. I loved staying here and would come again!

Nyepi caught us by surprise, since we hadn't known about the Balinese Hindu New Year and Day of Silence. We really appreciated experiencing it. The airport and everything else shut down, and guests weren't allowed to leave the hotel. Nyepi itself was a chill Nexflix kind of day, but the night before was lively: locals paraded huge paper-mâché Ogoh-Ogoh floats showing demons and evil spirits through the streets with music and chanting. It was a fun cultural event to see. We stayed five nights in March on our honeymoon, and the place felt like our own luxury villa. The welcome was lovely, with lemongrass iced tea, and the spacious, clean room had separate living and dining areas, more like a small apartment. Fresh flowers on the floor spelled out "Happy Honeymoon" leading into the bedroom. We'd seen the towel swans and flowers on beds elsewhere in Asia, but this setup felt genuine and we loved it. Breakfast was excellent, especially the Mie Goreng, which I ordered every morning. There's a pool, though we didn't use it because it rained quite a bit. Laundry service was a big help during our month-long trip. The main drawback is the location. It's a bit far from Ubud's walking area, shops, and restaurants, so we had to take Grab back and forth. If being outside town doesn't bother you, it's a lovely retreat with beautiful apartment-like rooms, warm service, and good amenities. We loved our stay. Without the distance, we'd have given it five stars.

The villas are comfortable and nicely decorated, and the quiet setting makes it easy to relax. Canvas Escape feels like home near Ubud, thanks in large part to the lovely staff, who were so kind and friendly. A special thank you to Yani for being such a great host. I'll be back.
