Duta Cabin

I’ve spent a week at Duta Guest House and would happily come back. The staff are lovely and glad to share local tips, and they clean the rooms every day. A buffet breakfast is available most days for 50k INR, which is a good start to the day. On humid days, the pool is a real treat, and coming back from sightseeing to cake and tea was a lovely surprise. The bathroom layout may not suit everyone, with the shower right by the toilet. Hot water takes a while to come through, though in this humidity I didn’t really need it. Thanks to all the staff!

Jogja was easy to explore from here, with everything close by, lovely service, and a beautiful pool. The price was great, too. It has what you need while you enjoy the local sights, atmosphere, and culture. Just don’t expect a five-star stay.

I was happy with the place overall. They’ve clearly put a lot of effort into preserving the building’s historic design, and the garden and pool are lovely. The staff were nice, and breakfast had enough choices. The bathrooms do need repairs, though: the lighting is too dim, there aren’t enough outlets, and some of them are loose.

I first stayed at Duta Hotel back in the 1990s and returned in April 2025. It still has that lasting charm, and I love it. The staff are wonderful, polite, professional, attentive, and helpful. The older sections were designed for a time when air-conditioning wasn’t common, so the layout encourages breezes and uses ponds, fish, and plants to help keep things cooler. It’s a good value, with a clean pool and great AC, and a nice way to experience Javanese hospitality. The shower pressure can vary.
