Emersia Malioboro Hotel

The location was handy, about a 10-minute walk from tugu, stasiun tugu, and Malioboro. The hotel itself felt pretty ordinary, with both good and bad points. The deluxe room was just standard, and I found hair in the sink, so cleaning needs work. When I opened the door, the AC was leaking and I had to call staff to fix it. They should've come faster. The pool was dirty, so they cleaned it in the evening for morning use, but there was still algae in it. Breakfast was so-so, with only three meals.

The hot water was excellent and the water pressure was incredibly strong. The location also works well for people driving. They should add bedside sockets. Both outlets are by the table and drawer.

The staff were friendly and service was good, especially the reception team, who were very helpful. I had trouble reaching the call center before check-in, though. I called several times and nobody answered, so I didn't bother sending them a WA either. I stayed in a Deluxe Room in the new building. It was comfortable and clean, and the bedsheets smelled nice. The bathroom needs more maintenance and scrubbing. There seem to be two kinds of towels, new ones and old ones with ragged edges. They could provide newer ones. I also stayed briefly in the old building before, where the bathroom was rather stinky, and that could be fixed too. The food was OK but could be much better. The hotel has potential to be great if management takes care of the small details.

The room felt cramped, and the walls seemed thin. We could hear the housekeeping cart rolling by, and even the shower was really loud. For 50USD/night, it's just as is. Getting luggage inside was difficult because the main entrance only has stairs. It's definitely not wheelchair friendly. The lift is tiny, max five people, and was broken when we arrived. Luckily, our rooms were on the 2nd floor. At check-in, the officer seemed clueless, and one person kept scrolling on a mobile phone. The lobby had a strange smell, almost like mold.
