The building is a little old but well maintained, with spacious parking and lots of small restaurants around it. I booked the cheapest room through a booking agency for IDR 100,000 and got a basic room with a fan, TV, a private bathroom inside, and a small seating area just outside. You get what you pay for.

It's a reasonably priced RedDoorz-affiliated hotel in a quiet area, about 1.5km from Malioboro. Service, facilities, and the room were good. There's no breakfast, hot drinking water, or sandals, but that's fine. I'd definitely recommend it for a family holiday.

The owner graduated from a highly reputable university in Tokyo, Japan, and the hotel's friendly welcome has a Japanese cultural touch. IRAA Hotel, near Bausasran junction in Yogyakarta, is small but surprisingly friendly. I consider it a best buy: it's affordable, and you get friendliness and cleanliness.
