Hotel Zamrud Malioboro

What stood out was the location: the hotel is near both of Jogja’s train stations, Lempuyangan Market, Malioboro, and much of downtown. The mosque is also just a 2-5 minute walk away. The room was clean and good, and the staff were helpful, though the hospitality management felt a bit old-fashioned. Parking is limited, maybe enough for around 5-6 minivans.

The cheap rate and attractive furniture gave me a good first impression, but the small bathroom got frustrating after a while. There’s no basin or mirror in it, and the room windows don’t open. WiFi only works in the more expensive rooms on the first floor. I was disappointed with breakfast, too.

The room was fairly large and clean, but there’s no cable TV and no view from the windows. There’s no room service, and the place is far from stores and restaurants. Breakfast runs out after 8, so don’t be late. At night, there’s no real security, just an old, sleepy man on his own.

The breakfast was good, but the room wasn’t clean. The pillowcases, sheets, and bathroom were dirty.
