HUBS Hostel Yogyakarta

Finding this hostel on Google was a surprise, especially since it’s close to Stasiun Tugu Jogja and Malioboro, and prices start at just 50rb. It suits a neat freak like me without costing much. The room was clean, with cleaning scheduled four times a day, and the bed was just right for me. The hot water was better than I expected. The pantry and common area were in great shape too. Staying right in the center of Jogja for 50K is the best part.

The breakfast is pretty light, though I liked the smoothie. The shared room felt cozy and private enough thanks to the blinds between beds. There’s a public pantry with a water refill and fridge, and you can borrow a hair dryer or iron. They provide a bath towel, but no free toothbrush and toothpaste, so bring your own. Reception staff are friendly and helpful, and someone is there around the clock. For the price, it was very much worth it, breakfast aside.

I stayed in the 10-bed dorm and found it comfortable and private, with blackout curtains on each pod. There were two bathrooms in the room, so I never had to wait. The coworking area has long desks and good AC, and the little kitchen has what you need, though it’s not suited to cooking big meals. It’s a quieter, less touristy spot, still an easy walk from the train station, which worked well for me as a working traveler. Clean, practical, and good value.

The hostel is in a great location, and the staff were lovely. Two things went missing from the laundry, but when I showed them I’d just bought the items, they reimbursed me in cash. That was kind and more than I expected. The room had plenty of space and storage, and the bed was very comfortable. A clean bath mat, a window for some air, and another plug by the left side of the bed would’ve helped, since there were two of us sharing one outlet. There were also lots of little ants. It’s a good hostel, though I wouldn’t pick it as a solo traveler because it didn’t feel very social.
