The room was the worst place we stayed during five months in Asia, and also the most expensive at about 25 euros a night. Public holidays don’t make that price reasonable. It was very dark, with no proper window to the outside, and the bed was much smaller than the photo suggested. We’d asked for a double, but got something closer to a large single, so my partner slept on an extra mattress on the floor. There were problems throughout the room and bathroom: mold on the ceiling, a socket coming out of the wall, no bathroom sink, just a tap, and a broken toilet flush. Staff said to pour water from a bucket into the toilet. The toilet spray didn’t work either, and there was no toilet paper. Water stopped during the night and came back early in the morning. Security didn’t feel adequate. People could enter freely, and part of the upper window facing the corridor was open with no glass. Noise made things worse: women shouted and fought in the hall for an hour, with one banging hard on doors. At 5 a.m., people gathered in the nearby kitchen and talked loudly enough to wake us. We really don’t understand the positive reviews, and wouldn’t recommend it.
