Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta

We’re on our second day in the Kraton Suite, and the service has been excellent so far. In the mornings they offer a variety of dishes, and in the evening there are lovely refreshments in the lounge. We’ve also had fruit and snacks delivered to the suite in the afternoon as a surprise. The staff are friendly and go above and beyond. Beautiful hotel, with customer service that exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended 👍🏻

The kids’ playground was a big hit with my child. It’s spacious, clean, and well designed, so I could enjoy a quiet coffee while they played. I also loved the restaurant food, and the lobby ice cream counter’s homemade ice cream is worth trying. There are thoughtful treats in the room, including pretty, tasty sweets and complimentary jamu. I liked the jamu enough to order more downstairs. The décor mixes traditional Javanese touches with a modern feel, and the hotel is luxurious without feeling cold or impersonal. From arrival, the staff were warm, polite, and attentive. One of my best hotel stays in Indonesia. Everything felt well considered, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.

That warm roti kukus still comes to mind. So does the breakfast: bubur gudeg, nasi gandul, dawet ireng, and so much jajan pasar that “just one more” was hard to resist. There were plenty of fresh juice options, too. It’s been a long time since I stayed at Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta, and I can’t recall every detail, but I remember the feeling. The room was quietly luxurious and so comfortable I didn’t feel like leaving. Everything worked without a fuss. The hospitality felt warm and naturally thoughtful, not overly polished. Staying at Tentrem felt like experiencing Yogyakarta at a calmer, more indulgent pace. It quietly raised my standards. Truly recommended.

What stood out most was the service. Everyone was warm, polite, friendly, and quick to help. After we left some belongings in the room, the staff contacted us and sent them to us at their own expense. The breakfast was top notch, with continental choices and plenty of traditional Jogja food. In the room, we had welcome snacks, jamu from their brand in the chiller, and a good selection of coffee. The amenities were very good. Our room was spacious, with a large bed even in the twin room, and was a good experience overall. One drawback was that the pillows smelled a little damp, as did the shower. Housekeepers explained their washing machines were broken, so they had to send laundry outside, which we understood.
