Achill’s blue house was a one-of-a-kind stay, with themed rooms, breathtaking views, and hosts who have put so much heart and thought into everything. Jon and Alex welcomed us first, along with their three sweet golden retrievers, and took time to show us around their home and the area. Following their suggestion, we biked around the island, stopped at the local distillery, and finished at Ted’s pub. It had a fun, relaxed atmosphere, with locals and mystical stories about the island and its shark-fishing history. In the morning, we woke to the smell of a sumptuous breakfast. The chef’s evening menu has such a range of choices that we had to take time to decide. The food is locally sourced and homemade. If you love cooking, ask to see the chef’s sanctuary! Jon and Alex, thank you. Stay just as you are! Victor & Julie

The hosts were so kind and welcoming that we felt at home as soon as we arrived. Breakfast had an amazing range of delicious options for every taste, and it was all lovely. The rooms were spotless, thanks to Maria from Ukraine and her wonderful attention to detail. The house also stays warm throughout the year, so there's no damp or cold, which isn't always the case in Ireland. Each room has its own theme and personality, with thoughtful, creative design. This is a truly special place in Ireland, and I highly recommend the hotel. It deserves all five stars.

Jon and Alex put a lot into looking after every guest, and their breakfasts are outstanding. The Venetian room looked out over beautiful Keel beach and the surrounding area. It had ornate decor, a jacuzzi bath in the room, and a spa shower in the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable too. This luxurious hideaway sits on a hill just above Keel beach, and its themed rooms are each decorated in their own distinctive style. After staying here, you won't want to choose anywhere else on Achill Island.

We came to ferndale to get away from the busy pace of life, and left with relaxed shoulders and minds. The hosts are exceptional, welcoming you like friends and doing everything they can to make the stay comfortable and special. The spot feels epic. After travelling the length of the island, we thought this was the best place, with peaceful morning walks on the beach and total tranquility. The food was among the best we've ever had, at both breakfast and dinner. I'd absolutely recommend having dinner there one night. Jon cooks with excellent ingredients and fresh homemade bakes, and can make a wonderful meal to suit your tastes. A real highlight was taking their three beautiful golden retrievers to the beach one morning. It was so special. We're already planning another visit! 💛

Two nights at Ferndale on our honeymoon in Achill weren't nearly enough. Jon and Alex made the whole stay special, even helping with our bags and sorting out dinner and bike rentals for the next day. The service couldn't have been better. On our last night, they made a meal to our request, with lamb and prawn surf and turf, potato gratin, and fresh vegetables. It was truly amazing food. There's so much to see in Achill, and we can't wait to come back and stay longer with the guys and dogs at Ferndale.
