The room itself was comfortable, the bed was super comfortable, and there were plenty of sockets. Most of the staff around the hotel were excellent, especially the breakfast team. That area was great and the buffet was very good. Food in the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced, though there's no formal dining setting you'd want to dress up for. We had a Business Class room, but the carpet, chairs and bed support were a little grubby. The TV had only Irish stations, despite links to most UK stations and apps. For a city break, the location was perfect, with the town centre right outside and plenty of free parking. Still, the general look of this four-star hotel disappointed us. There was a strange unused coffee service section in the foyer that looked like storage and detracted from the appearance. The pool was quite small, and its surroundings were plain and boring. We were visiting for our 10th wedding anniversary, and given these issues, we're not thinking of coming back.

The team at Radisson Blu Athlone made me feel truly valued, from the way they responded to every request to the attention they showed each guest. Their professionalism, kindness and heartfelt hospitality left me feeling comfortable, calm and able to trust them. The communication and atmosphere were thoughtful down to the details. I'm deeply grateful for such a wonderful stay and left with the warmest impressions. I'm very happy I chose this hotel and would be delighted to return. I'll gladly recommend Radisson Blu Athlone to anyone who appreciates quality, comfort and genuine care.

The room was still not confirmed ready when we arrived at 6:30, even though we'd paid in advance. It was painfully hot, the thermostat wouldn't switch off the heater, and the window barely opened. We tried both and went out for dinner hoping the temperature would drop, but came back to a room over 80F. The main phone was dead, so I called reception from the bathroom and explained. The woman said there was no AC, but offered fans and ice. Nothing ever came. We were very unhappy with the hotel and the service. Don't promise help you can't provide.

The location makes it easy to walk to Athlone's attractions, and the rooms are beautiful. We ate at the restaurant and loved the food. I've stayed here many times, most recently with family across three rooms, and the service was great as usual. Staff at breakfast were especially friendly and accommodating with my coeliac mother-in-law. Avril was also so lovely with my 10-month-old granddaughter.
