Mount Wolseley Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort

The dinner setting was lovely, with dim lighting that gave the restaurant a romantic feel. We enjoyed everything from the starters through to dessert, and couldn’t fault the food. The couple sitting beside us agreed. Staff were genuinely lovely and very obliging. We stayed in a standard room, which had plenty of space, beautiful decor and a very comfortable bed. My partner and I came for my birthday, and it was a wonderful treat. A delicious buffet breakfast followed by a trip to the Jacuzzi was a great start to the morning. We’ll definitely return in the coming months. My partner is hoping to play a round of golf while I relax in the Spa.

Breakfast was self service, with a fantastic choice of excellent food. At dinner, the food itself was very good, though we had to ask for a soup spoon and bread. We were waiting an hour for the main course. Once we mentioned the delay to a server, things improved. We stayed for one night with B&B and dinner. Check-in was efficient, and the rooms were comfortable once we got into ours. The entrance cards failed, so I had to go back down from the top floor to reception twice to get them activated again. They worked that evening, but were declined again when we returned after breakfast the next day.

Breakfast was the highlight of the food for me. I loved the coffee machine and takeaway cups, so I could finish with a really nice cappuccino in hand as we headed out for a walk. The blonde woman who greeted us at breakfast was lovely, and another lovely girl served us afternoon tea. While we were having tea, I saw the same woman repeatedly moving a big trolley of Christmas decorations. She still took the time to smile and say goodbye as we left. Sinead at reception was especially nice. She was friendly and welcoming, showed us the way to our room and the restaurant, and was helpful every time we came back to the desk. Her warmth, along with the personable, customer-focused front-of-house staff, set a lovely tone and made the break relaxing and enjoyable. We came for a spa break after the Christmas rush and had a wonderful stay. I’d definitely come back.

Sinead at reception was great. She was pleasant and helpful, gave us all the information we needed about where everything was, and made check-in quick and smooth. The same girl handled checkout and took the time to ask if we’d enjoyed our stay. It makes a real difference when staff seem to enjoy being there and are willing to help. Booking dinner was easy too, thanks to her. We found an online deal for a midweek break at a great price and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel and our room were spotless. The room products smelled amazing and came from an Irish company, rather than the usual cheap hotel products. Breakfast was great and staff were friendly. We really enjoyed the stay. I’d recommend it for a quiet break, relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seats in the bar.
