West Beach House -Sea Views

The rain shower was wonderful, and the beds were comfortable. Our sea-view room was spacious and lovely, with very high ceilings. The staff were as good as they could be.

Street parking was handy, and on Sunday it was free, which was a nice extra. We had a great view from our room, easily one of the best parts of the visit. Both breakfast and dinner tasted delicious, and there was a good range on the menu. The old, authentic furniture around the room and hotel gave the place lots of charm. We really enjoyed our stay at the Commodore Hotel.

The family room worked well for the kids, who said the single beds were comfortable, but my husband and I found the double bed uncomfortable. The receptionist was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful, and the staff were nice in general. Breakfast was almost €16 for a full Irish, yet it was small for the price: poor-quality sausages, just one rasher, and an overdone poached egg. We were also charged extra for tea. The hotel car park fee felt excessive. At €230 for one night, I think parking should come with the stay. It's a lovely place overall.

The sea view from the big windows was spectacular, and the room felt like a first-class cabin on a ship. I spent two nights here in October, and found the hotel clean and well maintained. Breakfast was less successful. I only ate there once, but service was lacking: I had to ask for toast with my omelette, then wait a long time, and nobody offered more coffee until my cup was empty and I'd finished eating. The restaurant wasn't especially busy. The waiters and waitresses were young, so perhaps they were new. Front desk and bar staff were friendly and efficient. You can walk to everything in Cobh, and don't miss the Titanic Experience! It was a fun, good stay, and I'd happily come back.
