Belvedere Lodge

Breakfast at the B&B was filling and good quality, and the rooms had what you’d expect, including fast wifi. It’s on the main road out of Cork, but close enough to town that restaurants are easy to reach. Traffic is noticeable during the day, though not disturbing, and it’s fairly quiet at night despite the road.

The breakfast was gorgeous, and I’m glad I decided to try it after reading the good reviews. The staff were friendly too. This clean, cosy, simple lodge has a lovely vintage-style interior in what looks like an older apartment. There’s plenty of free parking, and Cork city centre is only a 10-15 minute drive away. Absolutely recommended!!!! 😊

The garden outside is nice, and breakfast is included, but those positives didn’t make the stay feel worth the price. We paid around 140 USD a night, and on arrival the only real assistance was being handed a key and asked for payment. Nobody offered to help with our bags up the stairs, which had no ramp or elevator. The room was spacious but dim and mildly musty. There seemed to be mould beneath the windowsill, the towel warmer didn’t work, and the toilet slid around instead of being firmly attached. The silverware looked smudged and unclean, there was hair on the pillow, and the blankets felt rough. The location is right in front of a fairly busy road and bridge overpass. It didn’t look great, but wasn’t the end of the world. We’d also read on the website that guests were offered a drink and something warm from the oven on arrival, and that complimentary DVDs were available. When we asked about both, we were simply told no, with no explanation. We’d hoped to spend the evening watching a movie, but arrived too late for anything at the local theatre, which stops showing films at 8pm.

The woman who checked us in was so kind and helpful, and breakfast was included, which was a great perk. There’s a lovely garden with three fruit trees, and it’s an amazing find tucked away just a 10-minute drive from the City Centre. Circle K and other food options are right next door and easy to walk to. It was the most affordable place I found in the area. I’d stay again and again.
