Kent House B&B

I was really happy here on my first trip to Ireland. The room was spacious, the bed super comfortable, and breakfast delicious. Lorraine was a wonderful host, sharing plenty of history and good suggestions about interesting County Cork.

Months after booking a larger room at Kent House B & B in Cork for two people, I was checking my travel plans and found that the staff had cancelled the reservation without telling me. I hadn't asked them to do that. When I spoke with them at length to find out what happened, the only explanation was that they cancelled because of the larger room I'd reserved for two occupants. That same room now costs more than twice as much, and I had less than a month to find somewhere else. Even with my reservation number, Kent House B & B didn't seem willing to fix the mistake by honoring the original price for an equivalent sized room. I found this dishonest and a case of price gouging. If you're planning a trip to Ireland, beware: you could arrive to find your booking cancelled and no alternative place to stay. Don't stay at Kent House.

Room 6 is stunning, and the breakfast was great too. Lorraine was a wonderful host during our short trip to Cork.

It's a short walk to the city, and the room was a decent size. The host was friendly and very accommodating, though I can't remember her name.
