Breakfast was a real highlight for me, especially since it was my first traditional Irish breakfast. There was tea and coffee, fresh scones, fruit, grains and yoghurt alongside it. We also loved exploring the grounds and meeting the animals. We patted the donkeys, and the cows came close enough for a curious sniff. Daisy, a lovely yellow lab, wandered about looking for attention. We only spent one night at Killiane Castle Country House & Farm and wished we could have stayed longer. They kindly let us check in a little early when we arrived in the early afternoon. The four floors are reached by stairs only, which was fine for us but could be hard for some older guests. Even so, staying in a real castle was an incredible experience and well worth it. Wexford is a charming town nearby.

I still think about this place, even though it's been a few years. My husband and I spent a few nights there, and it became the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed wandering around the castle and grounds, and breakfast was delightful. I also loved chatting with the owner about his family and the history. I hope we can make it back someday.

Breakfast alone was spectacular, from the cooked dishes and buffet choices to the freshly baked goods. Killiane has such an atmospheric setting, and inside the house and rooms feel comfortable, with a mature style. The hospitality was faultless.

We only stayed one night with a couple of friends, and I really wish we'd booked longer. It was already dark when we arrived, but we were welcomed, checked in, and shown a place to sit for cake and tea before heading to bed. The room was beautiful, the shower was amazing, and the food was delicious. They served splendid morning tea, too. Next time I'm in Ireland, I plan to stay for a few nights. Highly recommend.

We've stayed at hundreds of bed and breakfast inns over the past 30 years, and this is the best one. It's a genuine castle from the 1500s, with modern amenities. The owners were personable and extremely helpful, and breakfast was out of this world. There are several historical sites nearby, including the world's oldest lighthouse and a historic abbey, plus some great restaurants close by.
