Shannigan's Gastro Pub was lively when we had dinner there, and the food was excellent with quick service. The Inn is also less than a five-minute drive from Dromoland Castle, with lots of local places to visit within 10 miles. Our room had two double beds. It was a bit small, though we could still move around and fit our luggage. The decor in both the shared areas and bedrooms feels dated, but everything was clean. We only stayed one night, and the price and location made it worthwhile.

Afternoon tea was superb. Jose looked after us attentively, kept topping up our tea, and poured it for us. The scones were still warm from the oven, there was a good variety and plenty of sandwiches, and all the cakes were scrumptious. Everything was delicious.

Storm Amy meant our needs changed during the stay, and the staff were so accommodating. We were a large ladies golf society, and reception, the golf team, catering, and all the support staff looked after us really well. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and both the food and service were fantastic. An excellent experience.

This was our third stay, and it was lovely again. Everyone we met, from reception to the bar and breakfast staff, was lovely. The bar food was beautiful, and breakfast had a great selection and was lovely too.

The staff were lovely and the location is handy, but those were the only real saving graces. We stayed in July 2025 and came away very disappointed. The hotel seems stuck between modern and old fashioned, with a few modern touches but most of it feeling like the 90s. There’s a small outdoor playground and crazy golf for kids. The indoor playground is on the grounds and run by the hotel, but guests still have to pay extra for each child, which was infuriating. Our room was generally clean, though some details were missed, so it didn’t feel properly clean in every area. The beds were very hard and made for a poor night’s sleep. It was mostly quiet, with few disturbances apart from the room next door, which wasn’t the hotel’s fault. The pool was not good. The water was cloudy, there was dirt along the pool bank, and hair in the drains on our first day was still there on day three. Breakfast was mediocre too. There were very limited vegetarian options, and once again we had to order vegetarian sausages and wait for them. There was some cereal, fresh fruit, toast, pastries, and a hot counter. Overall it wasn’t a positive experience, and we won’t be back. I’m happy to discuss it further if anyone from the team would like to.
