Academy Plaza Hotel

I only stopped by the hotel bar for a quick drink, but Joao and Carlos made a great impression. They were welcoming, friendly, and attentive from the moment I arrived. The atmosphere felt warm and relaxed while still being professional, and it was clear they care about their customers. They're a real credit to the hotel and bar. Thanks to their hospitality, I'd gladly come back and recommend the place.

Uros, who assigned the breakfast tables each morning, deserves a special mention. He was super friendly, quick, attentive, and always in a good mood, which made mornings enjoyable. Our three-day stay was very pleasant. Check-in went smoothly, the bar was well equipped, and the restaurant was good. The room was a perfectly fine size for a typical British hotel. A few things were a bit loose and the bathroom grout could use some work, but it was completely okay for our stay.

Housekeeping was great, but the rooms felt disappointingly small and the beds were uncomfortable. Half the staff were rude and seemed unsure of what they were doing. After a business trip, I needed laundry done quickly and asked where to find a laundromat, but nobody could tell me. An employee persuaded me to use the hotel's laundry service and promised it would be ready the next day. I clearly said I needed it by Sunday because I was leaving Monday. When I checked, they said there was no Sunday laundry service, and my clothes had just been sitting in the office. If staff knew their own services, I could have planned ahead. Instead, I had to spend time and money at a laundromat during my vacation. The manager didn't seem concerned.

The location made our four days in Dublin really easy. We could walk to places around the city, and the coaches for trips to the countryside and the train station were nearby. A staff member also pointed out some lovely hidden spots, which we really appreciated. Uros was especially kind and patient, always smiling and ready with a joke or a hand. He made our mornings a highlight. Thanks for all that good energy.
