Clayton Ballsbridge

The Grand Stand restaurant was a cut above, and the flood plan was nicely done. I had the supreme of chicken for dinner, included with the reservation I made during online check-in, and it was a lovely meal. The staff have made a real impression on me, especially Victor, Fernando, and Barbie. Victor and Fernando patiently explained my reservation and the choices I’d made during online check-in, which made things much easier as a new guest. Barbie was so polite and nice to chat with, and made a delicious iced latte. I was impressed with how well she runs the bar. Leia also kindly offered to help with my duffle bag, a small gesture that made me feel looked after. The whole team is friendly, thoughtful, and great with people. I honestly haven’t had such a wonderful hotel stay before, especially with customer service like this. I’m looking forward to the rest of my stay at the Clayton Hotel. Keep it up, everyone has earned this positive review.

Breakfast was good, the location was excellent, and the reception staff were very nice and helpful at check-in and check-out. Still, I was disappointed for the price. The room itself was clean, but the amenities seemed old. I was on the ground floor in room 121, right in front of the parking entrance, so there was noise early in the morning. The rainwater drainage system was noisy too. The bathtub drain didn’t work properly, making a morning shower unpleasant, and a metal cover kept shifting over the drain and getting in the way. I didn’t mention any of this because I was already checking out. If I’d been staying another night, I would have asked to change rooms.

We were really impressed by the cleanliness, which went beyond what we expected, and by how professional, attentive, and welcoming the staff were throughout our stay at Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge. Everything felt comfortable and carefully looked after. The service was outstanding, and it’s the kind of place we’d be happy to return to. We’d gladly choose it again.

The room was clean and spacious, and the hotel is beautiful, with lovely architecture and scenic grounds where I sat in the warm sun. But little problems kept adding up. The TV didn’t work, and I was told it was the same across the floor, which wasn’t true. The Nespresso machine was broken, though they replaced it. A drawer was off its runners, but I didn’t use it. The door didn’t work when I got back, either. As a former hotel manager, I thought the €33 charge for a basic pizza and beer could have come with a small discount or a free drink after the card reader failed. Breakfast was delicious and staff were helpful, but everything seemed to cost extra. Late checkout was €25, so I passed. It wasn’t the relaxing stay I’d imagined, and felt more like a 3-star place without a working TV. When I raised the issues and said at checkout I probably wouldn’t return, the young male clerk said he’d “pass it on.” I never heard any outcome.
