We could walk easily to all the sights we wanted to visit, and Iveagh Gardens across the way is lovely. The room was really spacious, which made the hotel a great fit for two nights. After seeing the online reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed staying here. The woman on reception was kind and helped us get our bearings when we arrived. We could hear the club only a little with earplugs, and the noise was manageable. The room could have been cleaner, but there was nothing offensive. We skipped breakfast at the hotel since it had no hot food, and there’s a Wetherspoons just down the road.

The deluxe room was lovely, with antique furniture and loads of space, and I’d say the extra 20 euros is worth it. I had a very good stay and would come back. I’m fine sleeping with noise, so the very loud club downstairs didn’t bother us, and there are earplugs in the drawers if you need them. I’d read that 50 euros per person might be held on the card as a damage deposit, but we weren’t asked for that, and the receptionist didn’t mention it. Maybe it applies to larger groups. There was a problem with the first room we got. Its second door, which opened onto the stairs, wouldn’t lock. We told reception and security came up to check it. He tried to reassure us that it was safe for two young girls to stay there, even though anyone could open the door from outside and another room’s door was right beside it. They moved us to another room within 20 minutes of us reporting it. The woman at the desk was extremely kind and helpful, and assured us they’d fix the lock in the first room.

The rooms were clean, but the nightclub right below the hotel made the whole stay awful. The music was so loud the bed shook, and people kept fighting and yelling outside our door. Staff were incredibly rude and unfriendly. The place itself looks fine, and third party reviews are great, but they don’t mention what it’s like at night. I’d take a quiet, bedbug ridden motel over this. I’d feel more comfortable with IBS in a Taco Bell. If you’re reading this in your room at 1am, I feel for you. I honestly would rather sleep outside or on a bathroom floor.

For 189€ a night, I expected top notch service. I won’t come back or recommend this place. The receptionist seemed grumpy as soon as I made eye contact, and she insisted that my friend register even though they were only helping me unload and arrange my things, not staying overnight. I’d booked the room just for myself. If that was her decision, she should change her attitude. If it’s the hotel’s policy, they should change it. That rule alone put me off returning. There wasn’t a hair dryer in the room, so I had to ask reception for one. Put one in each room, even poorer European countries manage that. The shower took 3/5 minutes to produce hot water, which is too long to make guests wait. I hate leaving bad reviews, but common sense seems in short supply with Dublin accommodation.

The room was tiny and the walls were paper thin, but it was very clean and the bed was nicely made. The cleaning staff were doing a fantastic job. Customer service, though, was really poor, and I wouldn’t stay here again. I booked because at €136 for a Thursday in Dublin it was the cheapest room I could find. At check-in, the receptionist seemed not to care and kept insisting that my second guest, who was arriving later, show ID. That was fine, but the way she handled it made me feel like a criminal. I needed pen and paper to jot down a few things for a gig I was playing, and they had neither. My request for a late checkout was denied, even though I was happy to pay extra, and staff knocked at 11am sharp after I’d been gigging until 3am. Between 5:30 and 6am the fire alarm went off three times, each for around 30 seconds to a minute. When I asked at reception the next morning, I got no explanation or even an apology.
