Schoolhouse Hotel

We had an early check-in, which was much appreciated, and breakfast in the lovely vaulted room with exposed beams was delicious. The city center is about a brisk 25-minute walk away. The hotel is a beautiful, cozy place, a red-stone schoolhouse by a creek with fragrant roses around it. Our room had plenty of space, with a sitting area and desk, and an updated bathroom with a hot rain shower and bath products. The crisp white bedding was wonderfully comfortable. After checkout, I realized I'd left my passport, credit cards and cash in the safe. The honest staff called my cell, and I was able to retrieve everything without a problem. Amazing service from lovely people at a great little hotel!

It's a quiet spot that's still fairly close to the center, and all the staff were kind and helpful. I stayed for two nights and really liked the place. The building is distinctive, and I appreciated that its original structure had been preserved. My room was spacious and very clean, and the bed was remarkably comfortable. I would have liked a room above ground level, since my view was mostly a wall, but I wasn't in the room much anyway. I'd gladly return when I'm back in Dublin.

We stopped in for lunch rather than staying at the hotel, and had a lovely meal. There were five of us and the total came to about €150, a reasonable price for such a good location. I had the Char-Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad with a refreshing pineapple juice. Both were delicious, nicely prepared, and the portions were generous. The staff were especially pleasant, attentive and helpful. The terrace was charming and cozy, a nice spot for a relaxed meal. The indoor area isn't wheelchair accessible, but the outdoor dining area is fully accessible. There's a large on-site parking lot, reliable Wi-Fi and card payment is accepted. It's suitable for children, and pets are allowed in the outdoor dining area.

The pub was a nice place to spend time, and the reception staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay. At dinner, service was excellent and attentive. Sophie was wonderful through the planning and on the day, calm and helpful, and she understood the vision we had and brought it to life. The table setting looked stunning and created just the atmosphere we wanted. Our wedding celebration at The Schoolhouse Hotel felt relaxed, well organised and genuinely special from start to finish. We had a fantastic time and felt very well looked after. We're grateful to Sophie and the whole team, and would absolutely recommend the Schoolhouse for a celebration.
