The apartment was clean and spacious, and the kitchen was fairly well equipped. I liked being a little farther from the town centre, and the neighbourhood was pleasant too. We arrived half an hour early but could still get the keys right away. We were very satisfied with the stay, though we hadn’t expected a five-star hotel.

The apartments were fairly average, which I expected from budget accommodation. What I didn’t expect was the roof collapsing on the second night. At 2:30am, a lot of water came through, spreading across the room, and we couldn’t tell if more damage would follow. I called the host’s contact number, expecting them to help make the stay comfortable. Instead, they asked if we could “live with it” for the night. The owner then said, “it’s the middle of the night, there is not much I can do,” and left it there. It was outrageous to expect us to stay in a room with a leaking roof, especially when I’m sure they wouldn’t offer it in that condition. My girlfriend was in tears, afraid more damage might happen, and we both felt the room was unsafe. With no roof over our heads for the night, we were forced to roam the streets of Dublin. The owner had said he’d come first thing in the morning to sort it out. We called at 8:15am and got no answer, then tried another 10-15 times. He eventually texted that he’d just set off and would be there at 9:30am, hardly first thing. He agreed the room wasn’t suitable and offered another one, the solution we’d hoped for in the middle of the night. After the collapsed roof and awful customer service, we were reluctant to stay in the apartments and I didn’t want to give them any more custom. I’d booked a three-night stay starting Wednesday 15th June.

The photos didn’t match the room at all, and I was really disappointed. When we checked the rooms, the freezer seemed to have urine in it. Half the lights didn’t work and had wires hanging out. The carpet was coming loose, covered in staples in a botched attempt to hold it down, and was a tripping hazard. In our room, a window handle was broken. In another room upstairs, a window wouldn’t open, so it got overheated. I regret staying here and would advise people to avoid it.

We had a nice stay, but didn’t realize until we arrived that our room had no kitchen. That was our mistake for not reading the blurb properly. There was a kettle and two cups. We had to buy our own tea, coffee, sugar and milk, which was okay, but there was no fridge for the milk and the local shops didn’t sell UHT milk.

The bed was very comfortable and the neighbourhood quiet. It’s a nice, clean place, with easy, cheap airport access at €6.60 round trip. The only drawback for us was that it’s a little too far from the city center.
