The location gets one star from me, and the views of Galway Bay get another. We stayed in Apartment One for a week, from 27th Sept to 4th Oct. The apartment was advertised as self-catering, but the kitchen setup was underwhelming. There was no sharp knife, the only frypan was small and burnt, and Cathal said they had no others. I ended up swapping with another unit, which is another story. There was just a large metal egg flip, and the pan couldn't fit four large eggs. The cutting boards were very old, so I bought my own board and knife. On the first day, oil was dripping from around the stove fan. I had to clean it before using it, which was disgusting, and the stove light didn't work. The stove dials were unreadable, so I had to look online to figure out the oven and grill settings. The microwave was a very old model with the wrong glass plate. It rattled badly while running and was only really okay for quickly reheating a cup of coffee. There were several cigarette butts on the verandah/balcony floor. The heater in the first bathroom didn't work, though luckily it wasn't cold, and the exhaust fan in bathroom 1 was very dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned for a while. One sheet tore on the first night like wet paper towel. There was a spare in the cupboard, so I changed it myself and told Cathal. That sheet should never have been used. “Superior” apartment? Maybe thirty years ago, Sean. Overall, a very disappointing stay. Sean and Cathal could bring these apartments up to scratch and justify the cost with some basic maintenance and setup. I definitely won't stay again.

We had a lovely two-week stay at the Arus Grattan apartments. Ours had two bedrooms and a view of Galway Bay. It was beautiful and clean, and having a kitchen and living area made it easy to prepare meals when we needed to. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance, as are the prom and town, where we enjoyed going for walks. Parking is available, and there's a bus stop nearby too. Booking with Sean the owner was easy. He was friendly and checked that we had what we needed. Thanks, Sean, we'll see you again.

The manager was really nice and explained everything clearly, so we had a great stay. The showers needed to be “boosted”, but once you work that out, the hot water is no problem.

We had a fantabulous week in Salthill at Arus Grattan. The apartment was clean and comfortable, as always, and handy for the city, restaurants, beaches, playground, and amusements. Sean and Cathal are always friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again on my next visit to Galway, and highly recommend these apartments.

Salthill is a nice place, and Galway is a pleasant walk away. The apartment was spacious, and having both a dishwasher and washer-dryer was great. But the bedroom smelled of stale vomit, and the sheets and bedding were awful, neither fresh nor ironed. The built-in dining area was high and not very comfortable.
