The welcome tea and chocolate cake were such a lovely touch, and the staff were really generous and kind. Breakfast was great too. We stayed two nights in Galway town, in a small, cozy room that I loved.

I was relieved it was only one night. We were put in a shed-like unit detached from the house beside the parking lot, and it felt unsafe. There were spider webs and it needed cleaning. The furniture seemed about 25 years old, the shower pressure was poor, and the bed was miserable. The lobby and office were dirty and dated too. Parking was awful, especially if you got a spot behind the building, getting out was almost impossible. The owner was testy when we arrived late, and there’s no complimentary Wi-Fi. I can’t see why this place is rated so highly. It was overpriced and poor quality, the worst accommodation of my trip around Ireland, and the worst I’ve ever experienced.

A lovely, clean and comfortable place, with a great hostess. It’s so convenient for walking into Galway or heading to a pub, and the breakfast was great. I’d definitely come back, especially with downtown so close.

Breakfast was pretty good, with several choices and plenty of extras to eat while they cooked it. The rest of the stay was a letdown, and I wouldn’t recommend coming back. The ratings seem far too high for what we experienced. We’d called ahead because we were arriving after the 2-6 PM check-in window and were told it would be okay, but the welcome still felt cold. They put us in a detached guest house in the back yard, more like a shed converted for guests. The bathroom seemed recently renovated and was in decent shape, but the furnishings were worn and dusty. The double bed was cramped for two, and the other bed was basically an unusable cot. The mini fridge was unplugged, musty, dirty, and warm inside. That separate unit didn’t feel safe. The door locked, but the windows swung wide open and we didn’t feel comfortable leaving them open overnight. The room was musty and warm, with no fan, so it was a hot night. We couldn’t get the Wi-Fi working, and after the unenthusiastic check-in nobody had given us the password. There was no guest information in the unit either. I didn’t want to ring the main building again and feel like a nuisance, especially since we weren’t given a key or access to it. It seemed to be run by a couple and their children, with no staff there around the clock. The free parking claim was a bit misleading. There are only three spaces on site. With more than three cars, you have to find street parking, as we did, or block the driveway and stop other guests getting in or out.

Everything you might need is within walking distance. The rooms were clean and quaint, and staff were friendly and glad to suggest nearby restaurants.
