Park House Hotel

The central location was super convenient, and the service was top notch. May and June are busy, I know, but having the hotel overrun with bus tours felt very different from simply having a sold-out hotel. My main issue was the bed: I confirmed at least three times that we’d have a queen, but we ended up with a full-size bed, which isn’t comfortable for us.

The hotel has a 1920s feel, with lovely decor and furniture, and the staff were attentive. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom had room for two people to move around easily. The location is perfect, across the street from the Citylink bus terminal and one block from Eyre Square, with most shops and restaurants a 5-10 minute walk away. We didn’t eat at the hotel, so my comments on service are just about the friendly bar staff serving drinks. My only issue was the beds. They were a level beyond firm, with no box springs or bed frames, just an unfolded cube under the mattress. Some people may like a hard bed, but my wife and I found them too uncomfortable.

We had such a lovely, relaxing Communion lunch at Park House yesterday. The food was delicious, the portions generous, and the service perfect. There was a huge choice of desserts. The banner, balloons, and personalised menus were a really lovely touch. Thanks so much to Kitty and her wonderful team for making it such a lovely day.

This was our first stay at Park House, after trying several of Galway’s five-star hotels over the years, and it’s the place I’d choose to stay in Galway. The old-world charm and faultless service made for a superb stay from beginning to end. The attention to detail was spot on. We’ll be back and will recommend it.
