St Bridget's Serviced Apartments

Joshua and the reception team were especially friendly and helpful, and they topped up towels and toiletries whenever we needed them. Our family of four had plenty to like in the cosy, comfortable two-bedroom St. Bridget’s Apartment at the Western Hotel. The kitchen had a dishwasher, microwave, pots, cutlery, and washing machine, which made self-catering easy. It’s close to the coach station, Lidl, and Tesco, and Eyre Square is a short walk away, though the apartment is tucked away from the crowds. After exploring Galway, it was a peaceful place to come back to. A few handy additions would be jacket hooks, better shower pressure, a salad mixing bowl, and a small chopping board. Still, we really enjoyed our trip and would recommend it to families or other visitors.

We had to cancel our Galway trip after the establishment changed its minimum check-in age from 21 to 25 with just two days’ notice. My girlfriend and I had booked two days at st Bridget’s apartments, then heard on Monday morning, two days before our stay, that we were no longer eligible. Management offered no solution when I got in touch and were completely unhelpful. We felt they treated us with a complete lack of respect. This was very poor management.

Staff were good and helpful, and the location was great, though there was no parking at the apartments. The lot at the bottom of the hill wasn’t far away, but it might help if the hotel arranged parking for guests. The apartment is in a separate building with no signs, so we had to guess it belonged to the Western Hotel. Inside, it was okay, but rather small for four adults, especially the lounge. The towels weren’t large enough to wrap around you, the kitchen had no small knife, and there weren’t basics like salt and pepper.

The receptionist was excellent, a very nice man who was working all weekend on Dec. 19/20th, though I didn’t catch his name. The apartment is very central and could be amazing with a little work. Inside, the bathrooms were a good standard, but there were no towel rails, some bulbs were out in the main living room and upstairs bedside lamps, and the remote’s channel button didn’t work, so we had to change channels by hand on the TV box. Outside needs paint, and so does the neighbourhood. There was some anti social behaviour in the parking alcoves by apartment 7, and the guest car park was extremely tight, if you could get a space at all.
