Waterlane Apartments

I booked Waterlane Apartments when my friends and I were in Galway for the weekend, after we thought we’d lost our apartment key. We found it minutes later and cancelled the booking almost straight away, but they kept the €432 cancellation fee. Booking .com asked them twice to refund it, and they wouldn’t even acknowledge that refunds were their responsibility. Booking .com called again this morning and got nowhere. I could understand a fee if I’d cancelled a booking made months in advance, but this was cancelled the same day, probably within minutes. It feels like they saw a booking come in and decided to keep the money. The place should be called the Artful Dodger Apartments. “You've got to pick a pocket or two”. I’m thinking about going to the small claims court or the Gardai next week. I feel robbed. I’ve attached some of my correspondence. Beware!!

I’m staying in Apt B and am appalled by the kitchen. Most of the electrical equipment is old, greasy and disgusting. The fridge and gas stove are dirty, and the oven is missing a safety glass inside. The dishwasher leaks, the front door handles are greasy, and the cutlery, pans and cups weren’t clean. There weren’t enough dishes, including no bowls for salad, and the scratched, greasy old frying pans seem like a health risk. The whole kitchen needs replacing. Only the kettle, microwave and washing machine work. The tap drips, and the TV wouldn’t set up, even after downloading the required app. The bathroom looks nice but has cracks in the bathtub and dirt in the corners. The bedroom has an old mattress on the double bed. The landlord asks for a €200.- damage deposit, which is a joke, and without paying it you don’t get the information needed to access the apartment. I paid far too much for this place. The landlord should be ashamed to rent it out. The gas inspection was due on 15/07/2022!!! If the deposit link doesn’t work, you may get a WhatsApp Message from the Phillipines. How doggy is that??? The owner still ows me money for service not rendered, since mid-April! NEVER AGAIN!!! Sorry.

No central heating or warm water here. Don’t recommend it at all unless you’re fine with being lied to.

There was a horrible smell in room no. 1, and we couldn’t sleep there that night. Maybe it came from some kind of black decay on the ceiling, or from the toilet in the room. It was a nightmare. We weren’t happy. Thanks.
