We were in an attic room, as expected when we booked the cheaper option. It was comfortable, with a small window, and in most of the room you can stand without bending your back. The hosts were friendly, and breakfast was included: hot dishes cooked to order, with salad, cereal, and drinks laid out buffet-style. It’s around a 15 to 20 minute walk to central Galway.

We felt right at home thanks to Peadar and his wife, who were such lovely hosts. The house has what you need to relax and enjoy your stay, and you can walk into the city from there. Sunrise Lodge really is a great place to stay in Galway.

It’s a clean, quiet, comfortable place with breakfast and convenient parking, and there were at least nine rooms. For the beach, the location works well. Salthill is a five-minute walk to the right for a quick bite or a pub, while Galway is about 15 minutes to the left for shops and historic sights.

The beds and pillows were wonderful, and so was breakfast. Paddy and Joan were such warm, caring hosts and really wanted us to have a good stay. Most restaurants and shops in Galway took us about a 15 to 20 minute walk to reach, but the view across the street was amazing and made that extra distance worthwhile.

We felt at home with these lovely hosts. They shared local information and restaurant suggestions without hovering, and upgraded our room for free. The Irish breakfast was delicious.
