Our hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. It’s a great place to stay, with a comfortable bed, a nice-sized room and a good location. The bus takes about 10 minutes to Ayre Square. I’d highly recommend it.

We had a great four-night stay. The location was excellent, just a four-minute drive from Galway city centre, and the rooms were spotless. Breakfast was always good, and our host gave us a warm welcome. Her husband Liam even helped us sort out a small car problem. What a lovely couple...

We found Woodhaven Manor Guest House easily after taking a bus from Derry, and could get off nearby without going into Galway first. My wife and I were both 64 when we stayed for two nights in September 2024, and we’re experienced travellers. The accommodation was attractive, clean and excellent, with a lovely room, comfortable bed and bathroom. There was just enough room for our two large suitcases. The hosts were professional, friendly and helpful. It’s about a 5-7 minute drive or bus ride into Galway; we chose to walk, which took around 30-40 minutes and was easy and interesting. We’d definitely stay again and have no hesitation recommending it. We hope to return. Galway is a fabulous town. Brendan & Joyce Keating, Buninyong, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

The bed was the one small plus, marginally comfortable, though wedged so tightly against the wall it barely felt usable. Otherwise, our stay at Woodhaven Manor was deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. The cramped rooms had no bins, the mugs were filthy, the showers had no ventilation and the water was freezing. Even though we left our rooms immaculate, the owner inspected them as if he were Inspector Gadget. At 7:30 pm, the owner came to us with an unfounded noise complaint and asked if we were drinking, saying in a threatening way, “You’re a lovely girl, but I’m serious. Absolutely no drinking.” We were just chatting with friends and following the posted quiet hours of 10 pm to 8 am. He warned us more than once, “No parties when you come back,” even though we left for the city centre at 8:15 pm. The next morning he was pushy about inspecting the rooms well before checkout. We said some of our group were still getting dressed, so he left, but came back several minutes later and kept trying to get in. That felt invasive and intimidating. He also accused us of making noise between 3:30 am and 5:30 am, which wasn’t true. We’d been whispering when we came back so we wouldn’t disturb anyone. When we challenged him, he said, “The cameras never lie.” He repeatedly brought up the cameras, and we hadn’t been told about the hallway cameras or the ring doorbell. We felt watched and judged the whole time. The lack of notice about the cameras felt like a violation of GDPR regulations, particularly Article 6. He called us “disgraceful” and argued with one of our guests, who was upset by how constantly he policed us. We even started texting in our group chat to avoid speaking aloud, since even light conversation seemed to bother him. This B&B should come with a warning: SMILE-FREE ZONE, NO LAUGHTER, NO FUN, NO PLAY. It felt more like a prison camp than a B&B, where basic decency and having fun weren’t allowed. We’re working professionals who try to be respectful and considerate, but were treated in a way that felt completely unjustified. The experience was unwelcoming and far too invasive. Anyone staying here should be ready to give up comfort, privacy and the ability to enjoy themselves. Would not recommend.

The shower pressure was a standout, and the room was spotless, spacious enough for two, and really pleasant. A great choice for a stay around Galway.
