The Rooms at Cunninghams

The location made it easy to explore Kildare town, visit heritage sites and shop at Kildare Village. We also ate at Cunningham’s Bar and The Dining Room next door, and both dinners were excellent. Inside, the fresh, stylish décor feels warm and welcoming, and the bed was especially comfortable. The facilities were top-class, and the attentive, friendly staff made our stay memorable. We’d happily come back.

I’ve stayed here at least four times now, and it’s become one of my favorite places. The rooms are spacious, clean, homely and really nicely decorated. I first came on someone’s recommendation, though I didn’t expect much from rooms above a pub. They completely won me over. The staff are lovely, too. It’s a shame when I visit and find they’re fully booked.

The bar manager was friendly, and the food in the bar was great. The location was good too. But I found a dirty old sock covering the room’s smoke alarm, and the room smelled of smoke. There was litter and scrap dumped outside, including a car wheel and an oven tray by the window. The sheets were heavily stained, so I presume they hadn’t been changed, and the mattress topper was disgusting. I also smelled weed outside and didn’t feel very safe. When I contacted the accommodation manager, she didn’t even apologise.

The rooms looked amazing, with tasteful, luxurious presentation. The staff were lovely, and the food was delicious.
