The Club House Hotel

We were warmly greeted by Alison at reception, who was bubbly and friendly and even upgraded our room without being asked. That kind of service made the stay, and the waitress at breakfast was just as helpful, informative and accommodating. The breakfast is great quality and very good value, so I’d recommend adding it. The hotel has a cozy, homely feel with a 19th-century look, while the rooms are modern and in flawless condition. You can walk around Kilkenny easily from here, and the Castle is only two minutes away, definitely worth a visit. Don’t be put off by the 2-Star rating. One of my favourite hotels in Ireland, and I’ll be back 100%. The hideout sauna is another activity to consider, about a 10-minute drive away.

The rooms have been beautifully renovated and add a special touch. Parking is convenient, and the location is quiet but still handy. Check-in was easy, but the staff are the best part. Mark from the bar was so lovely that it’d be worth coming just for a drink there. Our Kilkenny experience was wonderful from the start at The Club House Hotel.

The private parking and traditional breakfast were both welcome, and the woman at reception gave us great suggestions for our evening out. Everyone was incredibly helpful. The building has beautiful antique decor and a historic, almost castle-like feel, but our room was cozy, modern, recently renovated and very clean, with everything we needed. The heating made a little noise, though it didn’t bother us much or affect our sleep. We had a fantastic stay in central Kilkenny and would highly recommend it.

The location was perfect, just minutes from the main things to do. It’s a quaint, homey hotel that gave me a nice feeling of being 20 years back. The bar service was really slow, though, and the bartender seemed stressed. We waited almost 10 minutes after asking for a cocktail menu, but she didn’t come back for our order, so we left.
