Abbey Lodge

The beds were very comfortable, and the house itself was beautiful. The lady at reception gave us a lovely welcome, check-in and check-out were smooth, and collecting the keys was easy. The layout was convenient, with several entrances, and the 24-hour tea and coffee station by the breakfast area was a thoughtful touch. We'd booked room only, then added breakfast for €30. Parking at the front and back was available, though a bit tight for our jeep. There was no tea, coffee or water in the room, and we couldn't find a water station, so we bought bottled water at a shop. We'd asked for a cot, but it wasn't there when we arrived. When it was brought over after we asked again, it was unassembled. I put it together myself, then found it very small for a one-year-old, with a stained base and no mattress or blanket. It was hard and uncomfortable for the little one. It was a pleasant stay, but for the price we expected a bit more.

The rooms were clean, tidy and spacious, and the receptionist was friendly and made check-in pleasant. I had one of my best stays here, and the hospitality was great. We weren't given bottled water, and toiletries were only available if requested. When we asked about drinking water, we were told to use the washroom tap, which felt unhygienic to us, or to fill up in a common area of the lodge. A water dispenser or bottled water in the rooms would have made things more convenient. Still, it was a good stay.

The staff were wonderful, and we enjoyed the breakfast. Our room was great, though it wasn't very spacious.

A sweet little B&B, quiet enough, and an easy walk into the heart of Killarney. The breakfast was fantastic.
