Kingfisher Lodge

The breakfast was a nice little spread with homemade bread, though I’d have liked more savory choices since everything was quite sweet. Still, I’d definitely come back. The place felt warm and cozy, and the rooms were spacious, even bigger than the online photos, with comfortable mattresses and pillows and all the needed amenities. Staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive to details around the house. The centre is about a 7-10 minute walk away.

Our touring company had sent several email confirmations saying we'd been booked at Kingfisher Lodge, but when our tour bus dropped us off, we learned that no room had actually been reserved and the lodge was full. The Manager looked into it and thought the touring company was probably at fault, but immediately started calling around to find us somewhere else. She arranged a B&B for that night and a hotel for the next two nights, both at the Kingfisher Lodge rate. The hotel was very nice and likely would have cost much more. She drove us to the B&B, then arranged for an employee to move our luggage to the hotel the next day. Since the B&B couldn't provide breakfast, she invited us to breakfast at Kingfisher Lodge, free of charge, which also made it easy to meet the tour bus with the rest of our group. The lodge itself is beautiful and just a few minutes' walk from Killarney's restaurants, pubs, shops, and other busy streets. We wanted a place with good accommodation and a convenient location that would help if something went wrong. The Manager certainly did that, and I strongly recommend Kingfisher Lodge.

We had a lovely four nights and would definitely return. The hosts were so nice and did their best to help with anything we needed, and everything was clean and tidy. The centre is close enough to walk to. There isn't a cooked breakfast anymore, just a sweet continental one with fruit. We knew that ahead of time, so it was fine for us. They can recommend somewhere for a cooked breakfast if you ask.

The rooms and property are beautifully designed and spacious, and the location is perfect. Check-in was easy, and customer service is usually spot on, even with the trouble around the new door. The breakfast was a letdown, though. We've never stayed at a B&B in Ireland, the UK, or Europe that didn't offer a cooked breakfast, and we were shocked to find there wasn't one here. Neither we nor our tour guide and company had been told it was no longer provided. Apparently, it used to be very good. Breakfast matters when you're traveling, so this was disappointing.
