Cabra Castle Hotel

The Christmas decorations made the already breathtaking venue, grounds, and rooms feel even more magical. We were grateful, too, for the thoughtful way the team managed dogs around a family member who wasn’t comfortable near them. The staff supported us throughout our wedding at Cabra Castle on 4th December 2025, with one dedicated person helping on the day so everything felt seamless and stress-free. We’d only viewed this venue, and knew as soon as we arrived that it was the one. From the start, the team were attentive over email and phone, helping us through each step, even the legal details for getting married in the Granary. The tasting was fantastic, and guests still tell us the wedding meal was among the best they’ve had. Staying in the bridal cottage the night before let us have a lovely private moment with family. The groomsmen were also well cared for in beautiful accommodation. We’re so thankful to everyone at Cabra Castle for making the wedding feel perfect, and can’t wait to come back for an anniversary.

The courtyard room was spacious and spotless, and both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were great. We loved the bar too. This was easily the best of our 15 nights in Ireland, a beautiful place with wonderful staff. Definitely worth staying here.

We spent two nights here for a surprise anniversary gift for my wife, and the service made it feel like a real treat. The staff were so polite and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The castle rooms have an authentic feel, with lots of interesting antiques and paintings. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurant for fine dining, while the bar restaurant had very hearty portions. The grounds are well kept, and across the road Dún a RÍ forest park has nature trails ranging from accessible walks to more challenging treks. Kingcourt is a lovely nearby town, about a five-minute drive or a 30-minute cross-country walk. For a listed building like this, I know five stars can be tricky, and it’s rated four, but after how they looked after us I’d personally give it a resounding six. I’d absolutely visit again.

We were upgraded to a courtyard room, and its stone walls gave it a proper castle feel while still being luxurious. Such a magical stay, with a beautiful castle, lovely staff, and a very nice dinner. The portions were actually more than we could manage.
