Longford Arms Hotel

The staff are the reason I’d recommend the hotel. The receptionists were really nice, and one of them even brought milk to my room for my toddler. The room was good and the beds were comfortable, though the bathroom is a bit dated and needs renovating.

We paid €160 for a room booked online at Longford Arms Hotel, and the photos made it look spacious and modern. Reception charged us before we’d even seen it. When we got upstairs, the room was nothing like the pictures and was in terrible shape. It was filthy and poorly maintained, with a wardrobe that was broken and a drawer falling off. We have photos showing the big gap between what was advertised and what we got. It felt misleading. We went straight back to complain. Paul said there was nothing he could do, so we asked him to speak to the manager. Orla was just as dismissive. Paul then came back to say they wouldn’t do anything for us. There was no apology or attempt to sort out the problem, and no concern for customer service. For €160, that was completely unacceptable. Both the room and the service were terrible. We’ll never return and strongly don’t recommend Longford Arms Hotel.

The recent looking refurbishment seems well worth doing. Lunch has a decent range of options, but the food is quite basic and the quality decent rather than memorable. It’s served without much finesse, and the coffee comes from a machine. The refurb suggests bigger ambitions for the food, but it’s not there yet. That said, there’s no issue with it if it suits the place’s market.

The location is good. I’ve contacted the hotel with complaints about a problem we had and am still waiting for a reply. I’ll wait to hear back and edit this review then, as I want to give them a chance to explain or apologise for the strange behaviour 😅
