Mary was a delight, and after lovely chats over tea she gave us all a hug that made it feel like we’d been friends for years. She even rang her son to help my brother get his car back from Castlemartyr car park. That’s five-star service. There were five of us going to a wedding at the nearby Castlemartyr Hotel, so we stayed with Mary at the Sundown House B&B. She had tea and coffee ready when we arrived, before we went to Ballycotton Star of the Sea chruch, and had breakfast sorted before we headed out for the night. We slept like logs in comfortable beds in the quiet surroundings. Breakfast at 10 30am was a feast for kings. We’ll be back in a heartbeat and recommend Mary and the Sundown House to anyone.

The rooms are big and comfortable, and very quiet. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Mary gave me a lovely welcome during my four-night business stay, including homemade scones she’d made herself. It felt like home from home, and I’ll definitely return to this guesthouse. We were so glad to return after Covid, as this was our second visit. Mary is a wonderful hostess, and her scones are the best we’ve ever tasted. The bedrooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and there’s a choice of an excellent full Irish breakfast or cereal and fruit. The location is great for trips to Cobh, Blarney Castle, Jamison Distillery, Yoaghal and plenty of other places. A very comfortable place to stay!

Mary and David made me feel so welcome, and the homemade scones and best Irish breakfast were a real treat. If you’re after peace and quiet, lovely surroundings and true Irish hospitality, this is the place. Thanks to you both for having me. I’ll be back, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

A charming B&B with a warm welcome and a wonderfully peaceful night’s sleep. The cooked breakfast was the best I’ve had in a long time, and it was excellent value.
