Best Western Sligo Southern and Leisure Centre

I've stayed here many times, and it still gets nearly everything right. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, reception staff are polite and helpful, and the bar staff are efficient and very mannerly. The food is top notch, too. My one quibble was that the chef wouldn't swap the rice in my chicken curry for chips, which I found strange. The young woman serving had to pass that message on, and she handled it very professionally. One of the best hotels in Ireland, in my view.

The staff were so welcoming and accommodating, and the service was great. I was only here overnight, but the room was lovely and the food was excellent. They'd also left a packet of tayto crisps and water, a really nice touch.

Service was great throughout, and the reception areas felt comfortable and friendly. The buffet was fine, with a good range of local produce. The hotel is central and right beside the coach station, though buses often block the narrow street and cause holdups. Getting around inside could be easier: there aren't signs for exits, it's hard to get from the restaurant to the lobby, and some rooms in the extension are difficult to find. The steps at the entrance are demanding for people with disabilities. In my room, the sockets weren't conveniently placed by the bed, and there was no fridge. Everything else was top class, but these are areas that could improve.

The only thing that got in the way of an otherwise good stay was noise from the nearby train. Better soundproofing would help. My room was spacious, warm, cosy, and very clean, and I had a pleasant time at Sligo Southern Hotel.
