Harbour House Budget Accommodation

The staff were the one bright spot, they were friendly and nice. The rest of the place looked dark, dull, and dirty, and the kitchen looked filthy. My room felt like a hospital room, with plain white sheets and beds against light blue walls, and there wasn’t even a proper wardrobe. The only food available was bread, butter, yogurt, coffee, and tea, though the kitchen food was there for everyone to use, which seemed unsanitary to me, especially during COVID. The WiFi was very slow as well. I’d seen the bad reviews but wanted to give it a chance. I regret spending the money: it was overpriced for what it offered, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the price and location were good. Staff made us feel welcome, and even baked muffins for us :)

The room was freezing, there was no hot water in the shower, and the entire place smelled awful. Breakfast was continental, served in a filthy kitchen that I couldn’t bring myself to eat in. I’d hoped to look past the bad reviews and give the place a chance, but I came away sorely disappointed. Even with the low price, it wasn’t worth it to me, and I felt unclean just sitting on the bed. Do yourself a favour and avoid it.

The mattresses were badly in need of replacement, the room was dark and dreary, and the WiFi was rubbish. Half the sockets didn’t work, and there were only three clothes hangers for the four of us. When I asked at check-in about gluten-free breakfast options, all I got was “I don’t know,” so I was glad I’d brought my own food. I suppose you get what you pay for.
