The food was lovely, and having a pool was a welcome bonus. Our room was very comfortable, and we appreciated the complimentary last-minute upgrade. There was a small issue with a fan, but it was sorted straight away. The water machine had run out, and there weren’t any outdoor ashtrays, though those were minor things. We had a good stay and would recommend it.

The three-course dinner was a real highlight: a generous serving of chicken wings, a delicious gourmet burger, and a chocolate brownie that was especially good. I was given the wrong menu at first, but a staff member fixed that quickly. There was a football match on in the restaurant, and the crowd’s reactions got overwhelming for me personally because I have ADHD, though I know that might not bother other people. As a solo guest I felt at ease, and reception were helpful and friendly. Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy. My room was clean and lovely, with a comfy bed and good pillows, so I slept really well. It was warm, perhaps a bit too warm, but there was a fan available; I just didn’t use it, which was my choice. I could hear someone whistling outside, and the view was of the back of the hotel and a skip, but neither had a major effect on my stay. Charging my phone overnight was awkward because there weren’t sockets near the bed. All in all, I had a very pleasant visit and would come back.

I was especially taken with the little quiet, tucked-away corner just inside the entrance, and the views from the castle on its small hill were lovely. The whole stay felt pleasant and impressive. Getting checked in was quick, and the reception staff were courteous. My room was enormous, more space than I needed on my own with the extra bed, but still very comfortable. Breakfast had loads of choices, and I loved it. There’s also an indoor pool, though I was too busy to get a swim in this time, so I’ll have to come back. And the midnight food service from 12 to 2 was perfect for me, since I’m often hungry before bed. I got a nice pepperoni pizza at 2am. Seeing the magnificent castle as we drove up was just wow.

My grandparents had a really good two-night stay at the CWU Conference on May 13th and 14th. They were given two rooms, so they had plenty of space, and they especially wanted to thank Rachael at reception. They wrote a note saying she was so pleasant and helpful, and took such good care of them that nothing seemed like too much trouble. I remembered this as a lovely hotel from staying with family years ago. For this visit, I got in touch beforehand, since I work as a receptionist at a sister property in Dublin. Noeleen Conlon in reservations was a huge help with the arrangements and made sure my grandad, who has limited mobility, had a route to the lifts without stairs. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and accommodating for their conference stay, with great hospitality from the team.

We found the leisure facilities easy to use and clean, with a good-sized pool, sauna, steam room, and a well-equipped gym. The hotel’s layout felt calm and pleasant, without being overcrowded. Breakfast and restaurant meals were fresh, tasty, nicely presented, and offered plenty of choice; the dining staff were attentive too. The room was spotless, roomy, and comfortable, with a particularly good bed for sleeping well. It had what we needed, and the bathroom was modern and clean, with good water pressure and quality toiletries. The hotel is modern and well kept, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Staff welcomed us warmly and professionally, so check-in was easy and stress-free. I had a fantastic stay at the Clayton Hotel Sligo and would happily return. It offers good value, strong facilities, comfortable rooms, and great service. I’d recommend it to couples, families, or anyone visiting Sligo.
