The decor is lovely and bespoke, and the staff are very nice. Our room was comfortable, and I appreciated being able to turn off the bedroom radiators and open the windows, as I often find hotels too warm. There’s a good-sized car park, and the leisure centre and spa rooms were lovely. The relaxation room was mesmerising. I’ll definitely go again.

I wasn’t staying at the hotel, just stopped for food. It’s just off the M7 on the Dublin side of Cashel. I was there at lunchtime this time, and the typical lunch menu was better than expected. I usually go for the extensive evening menu, especially the reasonably priced mixed grill with steak, lamb chop, sausages, rashers, pudding, egg, beans and chips.

The pool water was clean, and the pool itself is really nice, but the tiles could have been kept to a better standard. The steam and sauna rooms had standing water and a smell. The hotel was beautiful, very clean, and consistently well maintained. The food was very nice, though pricey, and felt more or less worth it. Service was good apart from one waiter forgetting to bring a drink.

The therapist gave me the nicest treatment I’ve ever had, and she was clearly very experienced. I’ve been to plenty of luxury spas, but none compare to the therapist here. I wish I’d got her name. We had an overnight spa package at the horse and jockey, and I’d definitely go back. The hotel had a lovely calm, relaxed feel, the staff were genuinely friendly, and our room was spotless. Dinner in the bar was okay, and breakfast was lovely. A five-star stay for me.

I waited 20 minutes in the lounge before being told that table service had stopped and I needed to order at the counter. Then I found out toasted sandwiches weren’t available anymore. There weren’t enough staff for the crowd, and they seemed untrained. It’s a lovely place to stop, but management needs to take a firmer hand with staffing. Unless the basics are sorted, they’ll lose business.
